Yesterday was incredible. A LOT of driving. I finally stopped around 2am. The Pacific Coast is absolutely breathtaking! Once I entered Monterey County the real beauty began. Winding roads that hugged the mountain on one side and dropped into the ocean on the other. I was really glad that I was driving this part during the day. I ran across a raft of sea lions. They are so fat and lazy on land, but have really cute faces. I stopped in San Francisco for dinner, and then kept pushing forward through the winding forest roads of Sonoma County. I finally landed in Gualala, CA in Mendocino. At this point I had passed about 10 beach towns that were completely closed for the night, and hadn't had cell service for 3 hours. I needed to sleep! So I folded the back seats down in my Mini, and crashed. It's a good thing that I remembered to pack my down comforter and pillow. They saved me. I woke up to waves crashing on the rock below, and patient Feather waiting for breakfast. Off to Oregon. More when I can.
