marcus LOVES: columbian café

I asked a nice older hippy lady who owned the local apothecary where I could find the best lunch in Astoria. "Easy!" she said. "Columbian Café without a doubt!" She literally hopped with excitement upon telling me. I must be easy to read because the minute I stepped foot into the tiny bohemian eatery I felt at home. I can't decide what was more delicious; the house recipe habanero and jalepeño jams, or the "Chef's Mercy" that I was whipped up. A "Chef's Mercy" is anything they feel like making for you, and as spicy as they feel fit. I ended up with a chicken and egg hash with a fair amount of fresh diced habaneros. Best meal thus far even though I had to wipe my forehead about 5 times.
